| Finally ... after 14 months of badgering, the "three amigos" found their way to the land of chips and salsa.
The arrival of Fred, Hank and John (Rozylowicz) officially opened the Rozylowicz B & B. Floors were swept, bed linens were changed, table settings washed and polished ... the casa was set. Even the master suite was turned over to the guests. Mi Casa, Su Casa ... was never more in celebration. Saturday ... family was in town.
Few things were planned in advance ... allowing things to "go with the flow". One thing was certain, our guests would be treated to not only a Rozylowicz hospitality, but the true hospitality of the Southwest. We looked forward to a delightful week.

 Visiting Mesilla
Upon arrival and the compulsory hugs and greetings, the guests were shown their respective quarters.
A brief tour of the premises preceded the consumption of ample stores of Tecate (cerveza).
| After an evening of fine dining, prepared by Master Chef Dolores, and our favorite New Mexico wine, the hosts and guests settled in for some long overdue conversation ... and admiring the Organ Mountains bathed in red (sunset). The weather cooperated ... Las Cruces and the Valley put on their usual good show ... we then retired for the night, to shed the tiredness of travel and to prepare for the upcoming week.
After a hearty breakfast of egg crepe cups its off to church. Afterwards a trip to the historic Mesilla Plaza, its shops and galleries. Then a side trip to Stahman's for some famous Mesilla Valley pecan treats followed by a tour of the Las Cruces area ... principally the East Mesa at the base of the Organ Mountains.
The day was closed with an evening meal at the Double Eagle back in Mesilla. All in all ... a pleasant day with pleasant company.

 At White Sands NM
No trip to southern New Mexico is complete without a visit to the biggest sand lot in America ... White Sands NM.
The sun shone bright ... the wind was calm ... the weather said short shirt-sleeves. A walk among the dunes ... a lunch, a cerveza. Then on to Missile Park at White Sands MR.
A day of leisure ... shopping, visiting "mama" ... stocking up on some cerveza. More conversation ... reminiscing about the good ol' days.
 Lake Valley Mining Town
A day trip to Lake Valley ... an abandoned silver mining town. Walk among the abandoned and the restored.
A long and scenic drive over and through the Black Range Mountains to Silver City. Early dinner at Jalisco and then to Deming, St. Clair Winery and finally back to the casa.
Another day of leisure ... Farm and Ranch Museum, Wal-Mart, shopping for "hot and spicy" gifts ... sucking down more cerveza. Still more conversation ... picking on poor ol' Romeo (inside joke).
 At Fort Selden
Last day to explore the Las Cruces area. A visit to Fort Selden ... an abandoned 1880s military outpost. Walk among the adobe ruins ... tour the visitor center ... suck down more cerveza.
After dining at La Posta, on to the Las Cruces Community Theatre to see a 3-hour production of Neil Simon's "Jakes Women".

 Last Minute Conversations
Last day ... a hearty breakfast to send off our guests. Last minute reminders, promises to call often, pack the "treasures" for family and friends back home and "off we go." A pleasant week ... good company ... many good memories to keep us "warm" over the next few months. Visits like this that make us cherish our families.
"Happy Trails" and please come back ... soon.
