To our visitors ...
The 14th Annual (2006) Mesilla Valley Balloon Festival is similar in its format to previous festivals. If you would like to see what earlier events looked like, re-visit the 2000 Balloon and 2003 Balloon pages for additional images and other links.
The 2006 edition was in a new location on the outskirts of the city. The day was cold (32 degrees) ... the sunrise unimpressive. The morning dawned with a slight breeze which could have affected the ascension. The sky was grey and overcast. Shooting decent images of the balloons on the ground and in flight was problematic. Still, the results we show here, combined with the earlier web pages, are indicative of the sea of color that greets the visitor. Enjoy our images.

To add a little pizzazz to our travelogue, for your viewing pleasure we offer a slide show of the entire rally ... from the on-the-ground preparations to the mass ascension. This slide show is unique in that it allows you to either sit back and watch the auto-progression of the images or you may control the pace at which the images are displayed. A musical score is included, which you may also control.
