To play MIDI sound files embedded in web pages ...

Browsers require plug-ins to execute or play embedded scripts or media formats. To play MIDI files, a particular music file that is small in size but particularly suited to web pages, a QuickTime player must be made available within the browser as a plug in.

After downloading and installing the QuickTime player, the user must configure the player preferences to recognize MIDI music files.

Open the QuickTime player from the desktop (if an icon is present); otherwise locate the program and open it ...

  • Select "Edit" ...
  • Select "Preferences" ...
  • Select "Quick Time Preferences" ...

  • On the next screen locate and select "MIME Setting" ...

  • On the "MIME Settings" window locate the 'Audio - Audio file formats only' ...

  • Make certain there is a check (selected) on the "MIDI file" option ...
  • Click OK. Close the window and Exit QuickTime.
